Results of the 2007

Snow Peak 50


Mother Nature threw a hot one at us this year, but in spite of it we still were able to maintain a 90% finish rate. The mens side of the race saw a duel between the last 2 years winners with Kevin Schilling (’05) running running pretty much on Allan Belshaw (’06) heals for the first 36 miles of the race. Kevin finally got ahead of Allen on the way up to Windy Pass and pulled away and opened up his first real lead of the day. A lead that he would stretch out on his way to becoming only the 3rd runner ever to go under 8 Hours with a time of 7:59:30. 

On the womens side a third time running in the last 3 years proved to be a charm for Birgitta Johnson from Utah who had her own personal best time here, as she held off all others to win her first Snow Peak. She at one time had as much as a 36 minute lead throughout the middle part of the race on the 2nd place finisher Liz Irvine. Liz running in her first 50 mile event and only her 2nd ultra was slowly chipping away at Birgitta’a lead closing to within 18 minutes behind by the finish.
